Abstract

Spanish universities have the great challenge of guaranteeing the principles of equal opportunities, non–discrimination and accessibility for all students. This study focuses on understanding the beliefs and actions of university faculty in order to respond to the needs of students with disabilities, as well as to detect the needs of faculty to make modifications in their subjects. 42 faculty members deemed inclusive by a group of students with disabilities participated in the study. All of them belonged to 6 Spanish public universities and taught at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. A qualitative design was carried out based on the biographical method. The results show that faculty gener-ally have a positive attitude when it comes to accommodating students in reasonable ways in the classroom, and that the most frequently needed reasonable adjustments are related to access to the curriculum. Some needs have been identified in order to make further progress in the field of inclusion in Higher Education
