El turismo religioso como objeto de estudiorevisión bibliográfica sistematizada (2019-2023)

Resumen

El turismo religioso es un importante motor económico y cultural para muchos destinos, y es uno de los sectores de más rápido crecimiento dentro del mercado turístico mundial. A partir de un meta-análisis y de una revisión de literatura emergente del quinquenio 2019-2023 en el Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) de la Web of Science (WoS), este estudio analiza, desde un abordaje cuanti-cualitativo, el estado de la cuestión de las investigaciones sobre esta sub-categoría de turismo a partir de un corpus de 500 documentos. Los resultados más relevantes evidencian que la pandemia del Covid-19 afectó la producción científica, siendo China, Estados Unidos y España los tres países que más han publicado sobre la temática. Por su parte, las investigaciones sobre el turismo a destinos del cristianismo y el islamismo son las que aparecen con mayor frecuencia, aunque en el caso de destinos vinculados con el hinduismo suelen estar sobrerrepresentadas en función del número de personas que tienen este credo, lo que puede deberse al turismo especializado en meditación y bienestar.
