Social media has become a very relevant channel for distributing news, due to two complementary processes: news internalization (receiving news) and news externalizing (sharing news). This new scenario leads to the “new finds me” perception, that is, users believe they don’t need to search news, since they will reach them. This research analyses these issues and the impact of two theories, uses and gratifications, and impressions management. The data was taken from a questionnaire submitted to university students. The results show that there is a correlation between the perception "news find me" and news internalization of news, but not between that perception and news externalization
