Abstract
The present introduction reflects on the relevance of the psychological study of religion as a phenomenon that is significantly present in contemporary world debates. Then, after reviewing some limitations of the studies carried out by psychology up to the present, we propose as an alternative a historic-cultural perspective of religion. Next, we introduce the papers that are included in this monograph that focus on: the theoretical foundation of psychology of religion, historicgenetic considerations of religious experience, and the role of religious practice and technologies in constituting some psychological processes.
