Abstract

The goal of this review paper is to provide the reader with an overview of the causes, diagnosis and management of one of the most common orthopaedic conditions presenting to the daily practice: medial patella luxation in dogs. The aetiopathogenesis, clinical signs and diagnostic techniques of this pathology, including how to perform a complete orthopaedic examination and diagnostic imaging, are covered. Aditionally, surgical techniques available as treatment for this condition (sulcoplasties, tibial tuberosity transportation, soft tissue techniques), their indications and postoperative management are also discussed.
