Résumé

The use of Social Media on Internet (SMI) has been related to Eating Disorders (ED), self-esteem and body satisfaction. For this reason, it was proposed to analyze the relationship between these variables in adolescence, considering the context originated by COVID-19. To do this, a non-clinical sample of adolescents between 12 and 18 years old (n=245) completed an online form that collected sociodemogra phic characteristics, use of SMI, risk behaviors for ED, self-esteem and body satisfaction. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rho, Chi Square and mean comparisons. The results showed that the more SMI use, the greater risk of ED and the lower self-esteem and body satisfaction, adding that the female sex uses more SMI and has a higher risk of ED. Given the significant relationships between the variables and the implication that it may have, it would be convenient to carry out more research in this field.
