Abstract

This article develops a didactic proposal carried out in the subject of Criminal Law at the UNIR. Based on gamification and collaborative work, students used “canvas”, adobe connect, software and the “second life” virtual platform. The main purpose was to simulate a virtual trial based on a practical case, so that students could actively participate in the virtual game through the avatars provided by “second life”. It is a very original and innovative technique, since it combines, on one side, virtual teaching-learning technologies, such as canvas, adobe connect and second life, and, on the other side, didactic methodologies like gamification and collaborative work. The objective was to provide quality to distance teaching-learning synchronously through virtual reality, thus avoiding displacement among the community of students residing in different Spanish provinces who were enrolled in this UNIR course. This didactic planning favours the acquisition of legal argumentative skills, the search of legal databases from the UNIR library to resolve the proposed case, the application of the knowledge acquired in the master classes of procedural and criminal law, the acquisition and construction of new knowledge to solve problems, and the coordinated distribution of work amongst the groups members.
