Abstract
The present work establishes the methodology followed in the doctoral thesis "Economy, society and culture in the Roman city of Los Bañales (Zaragoza) base on pottery analysis". This thesis takes as its starting point the approach of "pottery as medium" of N. Lamboglia, understanding the pottery analysis necessary to know fundamental aspects of antiquity such as trade, consumption or eating habits. In this particular case, it has been decided to emphasize the terra sigillata by its great interpretative value underlined during more than fifty years of research in the Iberian Peninsula. The main objectives, as well as the different methods selected, will be detailed here.
