Abstract

The article shows how the twitter profile of football clubs in Spain conditions the work of sports journalists and affects their productive routines. For this, a quantitative and qualitative methodology has been used, based on surveys and interviews with Spanish sports journalists. The results indicate the integration of twitter as an informative reference for journalists, although it is noted that this strategy of the clubs is focused on a greater informative control of their messages, for which reason the journalists claim that it must be complemented with other sources of information, to develop its traditional gatekeeper role.
