Abstract

The current changing reality, accelerated by the health crisis in which we are immersed, has highlighted the need for a change in the conception of health care, developing an improvement in its implementation, as well as the inclusion of other elements in its conformation. The change of paradigm requires a modification in the style of healthcare leadership, especially in nursing, as a result of the continuous transformations that society is undergoing and with them the environment that surrounds them. The renewal of professional competencies is of vital importance in order to optimally address healthcare in the current situation, where the diverse realities we health professionals face must be taken into account. Advances in technology and interpersonal communication have greatly influenced healthcare practice, changing much of the way professionals act. The new paradigm involves the achievement of academic and work goals through the use of creativity and criticism, as well as adaptation to changes, new knowledge and the creation of an optimal professional environment, thus improving the well-being of the patient and the professional. Nursing must be aware of the need to exercise our leadership to manage both quality care and situations of change. From what can be said, it is time to promote new organizational models, to encourage work in multidisciplinary teams, with quality and safety, more than ever.
