Abstract

This article analyzes the historical keys and mystifications of the film The Brest Fortress (Alexander Kott, 2010). After analyzing the memory of the Great Patriotic War in historiography and the historical context prior to the German invasion of the USSR, in June 1941, the most relevant aspects of a film that recreates, with prodigious realism, the events that starred the Soviet defenders, are addressed. of the fortress, after the unexpected Nazi aggression. Of course, through his images, the traits of a Russian identity conveniently configured through a series of calculated historical oversights, a bombastic visual epic and sublimated heroism that are very revealing about the features of a Russian nationalism of sacrifice and dedication that (indirectly) aspires to shape today's Russia.
