Abstract

Between 2000 and 2050 the world population ofsixty years, will pass from 600 to 2,000 million. TheUnited Nations predict a global pyramid of age moreand more aging, and Spain will be 31.4%. Alcala deHenares is not an exception, so the City Council is oneof the most care for their seniors, through the promotion of active aging programs.Aging is a life cycle process; it is associated with theemergence of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs),which are major causes of morbidity, disability andmortality in all regions of the world. It is essential toprevent these diseases and the consequent dependenceby addressing risk factors and promoting active aginghigh-performance integrated programs.Alcala has a rich historical, cultural, archaeologicaland monumental heritage, so has the distinction ofWorld Heritage City. But it also has a large numberof infrastructure and cultural venues, sports and leisure; rooms free internet access and WiFi areas, fullyequipped Senior Centers, and natural resources, parksand green spaces.This document aims to present a new comprehensiveprogram for prevention of dependency, promoting active aging, based on the “five points of Health” (Physical, Spiritual, Psychological, Social and Emotional). Itwill be used for a social-learning mode, with a facepart in activities that build on infrastructure and cityfacilities and other virtual documents and informationto develop the skills of participants in the use of ICT’s,through the social network Facebook.
