Nowadays, one of the most attractive scientific challenges is the development of clean and efficient endergonic catalytic transformations using sunlight. Indeed, natural photosynthesis sustains life in Earth with these transformations. The advances in synthetic chemistry and material science, and the knowledge of natural photosynthesis at a molecular level allow to mimic some of those processes. Therefore, artificial photosynthesis has the potential to transform sunlight energy into chemical bonds through the production of clean fuels such as H2 or through the CO2 reduction, or the synthesis of fine chemicals.
