Abstract

The gender perspective is essential to guarantee real equality between men and women in all areas of life, including education and work. In particular, in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the gender perspective is essential to overcome the barriers that prevent the full and equal participation of women in these areas. Throughout history, STEM has been dominated by men, leading to the creation of cultures and environments that are not inclusive of or welcoming to women. In addition, women often face additional obstacles on the path to STEM education and employment, such as gender stereotypes, unconscious biases, and discrimination. To address these issues, it is important to foster a gender perspective in STEM education and study. This means recognizing gender differences and considering them when designing programs and policies that encourage women’s participation in STEM.
