Abstract
This paper analyses violence against indigenous women environmental defenders, which is critical because their leadership has validated the persecution and threat to their lives. Despite the peace agreements between the State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia in 2016, the situation of women leaders who protect natural resources, on which their economic, social and cultural survival depends, is deteriorating every day. They have experienced different forms of historical discrimination that affect their rights, which makes them more susceptible to other acts of violence. However, despite this situation, indigenous women have been involved in the struggle for the self-determination of their peoples, the defense of their territories, culture, and the protection of the environment.
