Abstract

The story of a group of friends marked by the years of revolution and its subsequent evolution in the country articulates in a concentric way around three women and four men in the novel Like Dust in the Wind by Leonardo Padura. Each of them represents the Cuban exile from different feminine voices: of those who -despite their origin- did not know the country, those who abandoned it, and those who kept living the exile of their relatives.  Apart from the intrigue and the narrative pulse that the author keeps throughout the novel, the role of the three women is the fundamental axis, where all the feelings found in the world of exile are articulated. They are the ones who narrate from their inner voice all the affective, familiar, social, and professional breakdowns and their particular feelings, as irreplaceable protagonists of Cuban shocks.
