Zusammenfassung

This research presents a proposal about the use of gamification to promoteand improve reading in English among university students. It is a project thatis currently being developed at the Spanish university, Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. It includes 200 students enrolled in both the Master’s Degreein Teaching English as a Foreign Language and the one in Bilingual Education.The subjects are non-linguistic, they are taught in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) and students are required to overcome a number of challengesto be able to achieve the objectives of the courses. The current proposal is stillin the elaboration phase and will be implemented in class from March to June2022. The main objectives stated for this project are first to enhance the students’ reading skills through the content of the subjects and the additionalreadings, both included in the suggested games, and second to create an engaging context of learning in the classes. With all these activities, this innovative project aims at encouraging the future teachers to incorporate ICT in theirclasses as a medium to engage their students and improve their reading.
