Abstract

This paper describes a "Guide for the assessment of skills in the area of Social Sciences (IUE/3013/2007) promoted by the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya and conducted between February 2008 and April 2009. We analyse the current state of assessment competence training in social sciences, considering theoretical, practical and institutional experience and qualifications to lead this evaluation paradigm. The study takes into account the context and reality of qualifications and assessment models that are put into practice in relation to the competencies. The main result is a document, now available online (http://www.aqu.cat/publicacions/guies_competencies/guia_ciencies_socials.html). Other products that may be reviewed are: the collection of evaluation systems considered in the syllabi of the social science area, a review of national and international literature on the topic and specific documentation derived from each of the seminars. The project also provides an innovative approach in teaching university level, while it is transformed into an instance of dissemination of the findings, exchange of experiences and knowledge of other contexts.
