Abstract

Background: In the formation on clinical settings, it is necessary a planning of educational activities designed to develop professional skills, where potentiate effective implementation of the acquired knowledge to solve problems similar to those they will face as professionals. Given these characteristics of learning, this work aims to examine the main methods and teaching resources used in clinical areas, through a literature search. Method: A literature search was conducted, and of specifically manner were reviewed specialized publications on methodology and teaching innovation (books, proceedings of specialized meetings, etc.). Results and conclusions: The problem-based learning is the main teaching resource employed in clinical areas. Within this type of learning, the study of cases-problem is the resource used primarily (of individual form, in group and by means of new technologies and of interactive response systems). Different studies show that it is a method very much appreciated by the students. The founding thing shows the suitability of this type of learning as a resource for professional development and as a means of motivating students.
