Resum
After reviewing studies on the complex personality of bullies and the possible causes of bullying, this paper aims to find out what the educational community of La Rioja -Spain- thinks about the issue, in order to improve the intervention with bullies. A broad study was carried out through a) a questionnaire, completed by 348 students of Secondary Education; b) four groups of discussion between parents and students; c) the interview of 30 teachers. The results show that the bullies a) have a higher concept of themselves respect to others, b) they bully to get attention, even outside of school, and c) have clearer ideas amongst older participants. The qualitative data collected though the different techniques show that bullies are mainly characterised by social emotional immaturity due to a dysfunctional family context. According to these results, the intervention aims to work on social emotional skills with bullies–particularly among the youngest—, their families and the whole educational community
