Resumen
Migraine affects one of every ten people worldwide, with an increasing and higher prevalence among women in urban areas. Although the usual treatments are pharmacological, the use of alternative techniques increases. This study aim is to assess the influence of socio-demographic variables on the characteristics of migraine in European countries and the use of nonpharmacological alternative therapies. Cross-sectional observational study by anonymous web survey to 3,342 patients from European countries. Study variables: age, gender, country, type of location, level of studies, and rural or urban area and the response to: Do you use other complementary treatments? (Diets, physiotherapy, mindfulness ...): Yes, No. Type, duration and migraine frequency are related to age, gender and cultural factors. Its distribution and characteristics differ according to the European countries studied. The use of alternative therapies in migraine is a growing phenomenon, with greater use in patients between 41-60 years and higher education.
