Resumen

The aim of this study is to show the level of development of the Emotional Intelligence (EI) of 30 dancers belonging to the three Professional Dance Conservatories in Madrid, comparing the results with the general average of the Spanish population. We present the Emotional Intelligence (EI) construct from the three most currently accepted perspectives: mixed model, ability model, and feature EI model. We proved through several investigations how dance is a beneficial tool for the development of several dimensions related to EI. We analyzed the sample indicated with the MSCEIT test in the 17-19 year old scale, which reflects the age of the sample presented, 17 and 18 years old. We compared these results with the overall of the MSCEIT average of the Spanish population for the same age range. The results seem to indicate that dance significantly helps the development of EI.
