Resumen
Female empowerment is a term that is being used more and more in different scenarios, and social media isno exception to this. The way this concept is considered in the field’s scientific literature is the central questionof this reflective essay. To this end, we propose to start from the role of prosumers and their representations inthe social network Instagram through a literature review (conducted during the months of June and July 2022)of articles published in the WOS and Scopus databases, related to female empowerment. In conclusion, wecan indicate that the term is constructed and continues to be constructed from different approaches such aspsychological, feminist, post-feminist and economic, proving how its potential depends on the context and theway in which women appropriate it.
