Abstract

Throughout the nineteenth century a large number of photographers worked in Murcia and many of them were foreigners. Most of these professionals were devoted almost exclusively to making portraits. However, there were some who dared to leave the studio and took photographs of the most emblematic buildings and places in the city. With this communication we intend to identify the most important photographers in Murcia who took architectonic points of view and discuss which reasons led them to perform them. For this, we will use documents of that time as well as numerous photographs both from public and private collections.
