Resumo

The marked increase in urban population is one of the most relevant phenomena of modern times. In the West, this increase is due, almost entirely, to an ever greater life expectancy, caused, among other reasons, by environmental improvements and medical advances. Within the framework of a culture that idolizes youth to the detriment of senior citizens, cities become ever bigger and more complex, and rarely support the needs of older members of the population. This work is based on the concept of ustainability: of the three fundamental defining aspects, economic, environmental, and social, the thesis will the third; that is to say that it will delve into the inclusion of social patrimony in Urban Development as a necessary condition for true sustainability. Within this reference point, we will center on the Elderly Population, more specifically, on Women.
