Abstract

With this research work, a theoretical revision of the emotional intelligence model is provided through the method of bibliographic review. Starting from a neuropsychological point of view and resorting comparatively to some of the most relevant models on intelligence described in the specialized literature, it has been made to offer a simple version of what emotional intelligence is as a construct. We have briefly broken down the structures of the limbic system, the biological motor of emotions, and we have offered a simple vision of the most outstanding limbic structures in the generation of emotions. It has been shown how the emotional intelligence model consists of functions that are related in an ascending way and not in a descending way, as it happens in the executive intelligence.
