Resumen

Internet use is massively established in Western society. Today's young people, belonging to Generation Z, have grown up in a connected world, characterised byimmediacy and virtual hyper- contact with people and objects, while the almostuniversal access to a smartphone in Spain turns these devices into portable andpermanent Internet connection points. To explore the effects of Internet disconnectionon this age group, a group of people were asked to go offline for 24 hours and recordtheir experiences. The results show that participants experienced both positive andnegative feelings during this period, as well as difficulties in certain functions of dailylife, while reporting a great loss of daily time due to being hyper-connected, along witha reflection on the need to make a more conscious use of technology and, specifically, its use as an almost exclusive source of entertainment and communication
