Resumen

This research provides the knowledge and attitudes about the use and smoking habits in students of the third level of primary. Due to their special vulnerability, also explores in detail the characteristics of that part of the sample who claims to feel influenced by people who smoke. Methods: The study sample was 62 people aged between 10 and 12 years. It was used a homemade self-administered questionnaire consisting of 20 items. Results obtained were: 41.9% lives with his father, mother, or both who smoke. 15% already claim to have curious to try tobacco and 50% said to be influenced by people who smoke. Female sex and younger students are who claim a higher percentage feel influenced by someone who smokes. Discussion: Community intervention in the field of health it is recommended to pay special attention to primary prevention in the school. Teaching in health and tackling the biopsychosocial factors from an interdisciplinary perspective allows practitioners of the primary care health centre delay or avoid the onset of tobacco use from the point of view of selective prevention.
