Résumé

The General Chapter in Franciscan order in 1633 serves as framework for an espectacularreligious expression in Toledo. This expression was focus by the way of an very rich procession,where paraded images of the most relevant saints in the Franciscan tradition. It was accompanied bythe highest Franciscan representatives and civil and religious authorities in the imperial city. BrotherGaspar de la Fuente wrote an account of it, and he enlighted how the defense of the Catholic faithresulted in luxury and ostentation, even between the franciscan brothers, with the participation of allsocial classes.
