Elderly patients are at increased risk for ADR promoted by anticholinergics 1,2 Anticholinegic ADRs may affect 25% of older adults and that this prevalence is even higher in older hospitalized patients, affecting up to 50% of patients 3,4. Drugs with anticholinergic activity are classified into diverse therapeutic subgroups and are not limited to N04A - Anticholinergic Agents, but include drugs from other subgroups such as antipsychotics, antidepressants or antihistamines and are widely used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, depression, cardiovascular disease, urinary incontinence, chronic lung disease, asthma, allergic rhinitis 5,6.Mild, moderate or severe, central and peripheral anticholinergic effects have been described.
