Abstract

Photography is one of the expressions we can still consider being "young" within the artistic universe. Its evolution, both material and technical, has occurred in a dizzying way from the moment of its invention and, consequently, from his hand different photographic mounting systems have succeeded and have been developed. Both aesthetic and preservation functions have been fundamental and parallel premises when planning the different mounting systems designed to exhibit photography throughout history. In recent decades, however, the progressive incorporation of new technical possibilities and the evolution of photographic formats have conditioned that,in many cases, the aesthetic function prevails over the conservative one when designing these mountings.
