Abstract

The movement founded by M. Fethullah Gülen is considered as a benchmark of what is known as moderate Islam. The friendly and cooperative discourse has allowed Gülen's movement to consolidate its role as one of the main partners to deal Islamic issues in secular environments. Meanwhile Hizmet has fostered inter-religious dialogue. The strategy of the movement is based in education, they seek to prepare leaders for the future who will work in relevant positions helping Hizmet interests in various fields. This policy has granted Hizmet a relevant political influence in Turkey and other neighbour countries. Recently, Gülen's political ambition has caused a direct confrontation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan which consequences are reducing public presence of Hizmet in Turkey and other countries.
