Resumen
This note presents the evolution of the valuation of ecosystem services from their origin to the present. First, some approaches that arose from the first joint analysis of Economics and Ecology are mentioned; next, the increasing importance of the valuation of ecosystem services in society despite the complexity of the task, is described, and finally, future perspectives are raised and current challenges to be addressed are presented, along with some final insights.
