Resum
The objective of this paper is to analyze how students perceive the basic emotions of the National University of Distance Education (NUDE), deprived of their liberty, who serve a sentence in the penitentiary centers of Galicia. A qualitative methodology has been used, with the interview structured as a technique for collecting information. The participating sample is made up of 29 people who study at the National University of Distance Education (NUDE), and who are serving sentences in different prisons in the Autonomous Community of Galicia; 25 are men and 4 women; the mean age is 40,38 years (SD = 8.986). The results highlight a student profile characterized by being: an adult, male, of Spanish nationality, paya ethnicity, single, middle class and without children. The training they do at the NUDE is Grade (15), Access Course (13) and Postgraduate, Master or Doctorate (1). They know how to identify the trigger of their emotions and, in general, recognize them better in themselves than in others; although, a great lack of control of the emotions is detected, which leads them to “get into trouble”, as they recognize. The stay in prison makes them greatly develop the emotion of fear, perceiving that they have no control over their lives.
