Abstract
The objective of this work is to know the opinion of university students about their level of development in different skills involved in creativity and innovation, and analyze the factor structure underlying the concept of creativity, from the students’ perception. This is a quantitative research with the questionnaire as an instrument for collecting information, which is answered on a Likert scale of 4 response categories. The sample consists of 965 students from the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of A Coruña. The results show that students perceive the competences linked to creativity and innovation as very important. The most valued items are those that collect a general opinion about the subject and, the least valued, are those that involve them directly. The Bartlett sphericity test assumes the normality of the variables and the KMO index=.804; p=.000<.05, it is adequate. The initial factorial solution for the whole scale offers six factors that explain 41% of the variance. Considering separately the items related to creativity and, on the other hand, those related to innovation, we arrive at a factorial solution of 2 factors that explain 47% of the variance in both cases: one is formed by the items that speak directly from each construct, and the other contains more general aspects.
