Resumo

The aim was to analyze the levels of social integration and employment of athletes who participated in Atlanta’96, on the basis of sex, performance level and kind of sport. A survey was conducted to athletes who represented Spain at the Olympic Games in Atlanta’96 through a questionnaire with multiple choice questions closed. The response rate was 22.39%. Assuming the worst possible (p = q) and a confidence level of 95%, for the total of 60 surveys received, the estimation error was ± 11.29%. Most of the athletes reached very high rates of employment, higher than the average for the general population, getting the first job through family contacts or friends. As for the monthly income appreciated, these were higher than the general population. On the other hand, the process of social and employment integration was lived with an average level of welfare.
