Resumen

In the field of sports psychology we find a growing interest in the study of competitive anxiety in young athletes, both in the factors that cause this and in the consequences derived from anxiety. (Smith, Smoll and Passer, 2002, Smith, Smoll and Wiechman, 1998). Cox (2008), groups the predictive antecedents of competitive anxiety into two groups: situational factors and personal factors. In addition to the aforementioned situation factors, it identifies a number of personality variables as antecedents or predictors of competitive state anxiety. The objectives of this research are: (1) to analyze the trait anxiety shown by handball players in the children's category; and (2) analyze and compare the trait anxiety presented by children's handball players, based on the tactical position occupied by the players in the field.
