Abstract

We analyze the position or ranking obtained by the Spanish University Archives (SEA) taking into account its impact on the Web and the tools used to calculate it. Google and Altavista are used to calculate the Web Impact Factor (WIF) of the University Archives in Spain for a semester (February-July 2009). The results indicate that: a) the Archives better positioned with respect to its Web Impact Factor not match on both engines, b) Rate Monthly Change Google has less deviation than Altavista, c) there is no correlation between the two engines when calculating the FIW, so apply a measure that allows for more accurate results: Media between FIW both engines. After calculating this average, the archive has greater impact and better positioned was the General Archive of the University of Malaga.
