Resum

Educational intervention should facilitate the full participation and integration into society, in this sense it is particularly important to provide a system of efficient access to information. This research is aimed to recognize, the factors impacting on visual reading access of low vision impaired people and implement strategies to optimize their reading efficiency. First an analysis of the impact of Nystagmus of low visual impaired students on the comprehension and speed reading process was performed. Next a study to validate the effectiveness of a program, to increase reading efficiency in a case of heteronymous bitemporal hemianopia was carried out. Then a study about this student profile was developed analyizing how the vision as writing-reading code, in the Secondary Education contex is used. The results showed a heteregoneus reading efficiency, a higher standard deviation in students with visual impairment compared to those with normal vision, high percentage of difficulties in word recognition; slow and lower reading speed and comprehension compared to the average of his educational level. Despite the difficulties described, and the need to improve reading efficiency of many students, there are not research, or tools that allow professionals to address this task. The Reading Efficiency Optimization Program (EFILECT) addressed to low visual impaired students has proposed an intervention based on three procedures: the method of "rereading" joint reading and speed reading techniques.The program is effective, however it is necessary to continue the investigation. So, a greater involvement from the responsible for the education of students with disabilities is needed.
