Abstract
Due to the interest that the scientific literature has shown in emotional intelligence and the benefits that it seems to produce in different vital areas , this work compiles and analyses the different instruments for measuring the ability emotional intelligence found after a selective review of the literature. The psychometric properties and the distinctive features of each one of the found instruments are analysed ta king into account their adequacy to the assessment of the construct. It is concluded that, despite the apparent diversity of instruments, the development of ability emotional intelligence assessment instruments with psychometric guarantees is still in an initial period.
